Early Years
Deadline has been doing this rap thing for far too long. Starting out as part of the now defunct CVR he was a regular face on the Birmingham hip hop scene, at one point hosting just about every hip hop night in the city with DJ Cro and Taharka. While In Birmingham Deadline released a string of badly recorded products that he is ashamed to say are still doing the rounds. These included several vinyl releases as well as a host of mix tape tracks. He is reluctant to divulge more information for fear that his current audience may find them and point and laugh at him for being such a silly boy. In fact he encourages anyone who is in possession of these releases to burn them in a cleansing ceremony before listening to his new projects.
Debut Album
In 2003 Deadline signed with the now defunct Power Hill Entertainment (see the running theme here? Look out TT you’ll be next!!) During his time with them he released the LP “The Life and Times of Joey Public” which included the video “Grade ‘A’ Loser” which received minor rotation on both channel U and MTV Base. The song was also notable as the first collaboration between Deadline and Mr Dick. The album displayed an array of battle rhymes, social commentaries and humorous tales of life, love and errr…. haunted houses and went on to sell virtually nothing. This album was also badly recorded but not as badly as the previous releases so Deadline doesn’t mind if you find a copy somewhere.
The Future
After Power Hill neglected to promote Deadline’s album they promptly disappeared as quickly as they had appeared. Deadline moved to London and began making regular trips to the north to record with Mr Dick, Naïve and what would later become the TT family. Much of the material recorded during this time will be released over the next eighteen months. The tasty treats you have to look forward to (assuming anyone buys the first release and Deadline doesn’t get distracted by something shiny) include:
Deadline - Deadaz Is Not Dead - The Mix CD
A twenty track collection of banging hip hop tracks with a slight slip to the left produced entirely by Naïve and Mr Dick. However don’t be fooled by the mix CD tag as it’s guaranteed to be better than most of the half arsed crap some rappers pass off as albums.
The CD features collaborations with the whole TT fam plus Mac Lethal (Rhyme Sayers Entertainment), Sonny Jim, Kosyne, Redbeard, Malik (MD7), Law (Underworld), Taharka, Charles Moopowe, Ranx Diggla and many more.
Me & Him – The Bad Taste Party
A collaborative effort with fellow TT member Jimmy Raygun. This release is fifteen tracks of pure booze inspired hip hop. Expect sharp battle raps, braggadocios bullshit, social commentary and tales of desperation.
The album features guest appearances from the whole TT family plus Sonny Jim, Red Beard, Kosyne, Taharka and Ralph Rip Shit. Production comes from Marco Polo (Rawkus Records), Percy Filth, Jonny Phonics, Complex, Kelakovski and of course Naïve and Mr Dick.
Deadline & Mr Dick – Untitled
The hybrid brain child of two socially dysfunctional and culturally confused pissheads. Deadline and Mr Dick bring a fusion of Hip Hop, Indie and Electro to tear up your dance floor and piss of the hip hop purists. Put on your thin ties and cardigans because Deadaz and Dick are coming and nothing will ever quite be the same again….
